Our Families

Cooperation
The involvement of each of our families is crucial for our success and ensures that we can keep our tuition low. Here's what it means to be a family at our school:

Parent Helping
One of the greatest benefits of a cooperative preschool is that you get to spend a school day with your child and see first-hand what happens!  Parent-helping schedules vary by class, but generally you will be parent helping about once a month. Helpers must be a parent or guardian of the child or one other person (grandparent or babysitter) that you designate. The parent helper brings a healthy snack for the class and assists the teacher as needed in activities and clean-up.

School Participation
Beyond the time in the classroom as a parent helper, our families are asked to help out in other ways throughout the year. One of those times is a “Work Night” in January.  Everyone pitches in and brings cleaning supplies, tools, and elbow grease to spruce up our school.  Families must send one person for either a Friday night or Saturday morning work session. It is a mandatory event, but you may opt out for a $50 fee.

For those parents that have a special skill, talent, or just a little time to contribute to the quality of our school, we invite you to consider joining our Board.  There are many Board Member positions, we need a person for everything from Fundraising to Marketing to Supplies and Repairs, and a Room Parent for each class. Visit our Forms page for a complete list of Board Member Positions, their descriptions, and the benefits of being a Board Member.

Parent Meetings
Our school Board Members and the teachers hold a monthly Parent Meeting on the second Monday of every month at 7:00 pm during the school year.  While not required of non-board members, attending the meetings is a great way to find out about how our school runs. If you have any concerns, ideas, or just want to come and listen- we would love to have you there.  Every parent has the opportunity to contribute to the shaping of our school.
It’s a chance to interact and network with other parents, and to set an example of volunteerism for your own children. The meetings last about one hour.

Fundraising and Family Events
Fundraising is an important activity at our school, so are fun family events!  Sometimes they even overlap, which is even more fun!  For more information, please see the Community section.
